A Study in stubbornness. Large format photography is not known for its high paced portfolio, typically shinning in a carefully directed studio or at the edge of a grand landscape. With that in mind I’ve taken my 4x5 field camera to watch different sports around southern Vancouver Island, from the side of rugby pitches and popular surf spots to local equestrian shows to watch barrel racers and Six Bar to even the firing of the only functioning example of a canon from the 1890s. Minutes of watching and studying the athletes, getting composed, and then waiting and waiting for that Decisive Moment in the words of Henri Cartier-Bresson.
